This blog is meant to help you determine which work at home job or program is for you. I am not making any determinations on whether or not a particular program is a scam. I am simply giving you the information to make that call for yourself.

One of the funnest ways to work at home is by blogging.   Whenever I mention blogging as a way to make money from home I get a standard response.  People don't understand how it works or how to make blogging work for them.

You can make money with a blog by using google adsense to generate income.  You can also sign up with blogitive and payperpost and post advertisements for them.   You can also use affiliate marketing through cj.com or linkshare.   These are the traditional ways to make money with a blog.

Another great way is to write a blog for a company or website.  More and more companies are finding out that blogging is a great way to get more traffic and therefore more customers.

One website is looking for guides right now and pays very well.   You can go to http://beaguide.about.com/ and find out all you need to know.  The compensation package is great (I am thinking of applying!) and you can also find out what they expect experience wise.

Why do we fall for the scams?

This is easy to answer and hard to answer all at the same time.   It seems like when people in general get on the internet they tend to believe whatever they see.   Kind of like believing whatever you read in a newspaper or watch on television.

For instance why do you think those websites promising hundreds of dollars a day while you sleep are still up and running?    Ever see the websites promising data entry jobs and they have thousands of companies in their database you can work for?  All you have to do is pay a one time fee of $39.95 and of course this is the discounted price for one week only.   Bet if you go back a month from now they are still offering the discounted price.  I would also bet that once you pay for access to their wonderful data base you will find out there is no job at all.   Just a way to run a pay per click business and that business will cost you a lot of money if you don't understand what you are doing.

These places are still in business because we make it profitable for them to be in business.   With the mindset of it it is written it must be true we fall prey to their promises and send in our hard earned money.

The internet is really not any different than the outside world.   The internet does offer us a information and a lot of it on any subject we wish to explore but it cannot make jobs magically appear with just your credit card number.   It cannot promise you work instantly.  Just because it is written doesn't make it so.

Before you hand over that credit card number do some research and make sure you know exactly what you are signing up for.   Stop and think about what it is you might really be purchasing and make sure you will be able to live with your decision.

New version of the 419 scam

This is just awful and wrong.. if you get an email like this please report it immediately to your local police and even the FBI. (there is a place on their website)

"This is the only way I could contact you for now,I want you to be very
careful about this and keep this secret with you for now. You have no
need of knowing who I am or where I am from.I know this may sound very
surprising to you but it's the situation.I have been paid some ransom in
advance to terminate you with some reasons listed to me by my
employer. It's someone I beleive you call a friend. I have seen that you are
innocent of the accusations he levelled against you.Do not contact the
police or try to send a copy of this to them, because if you do, I will
know, and I might be pushed to do what I have been paid to
do.Besides, this is the ist time I turn out to be a betrayer in my job.I took pity on
you, that is why I have made up my mind to help you if you are ready to
co-operate.

Now listen,I will post to you the tape of our conversation and his
pics, but before that, I need $8000.I repeat,do not arrange for the cops
and if you play hard to  get, it will be extended to your family.my employer is in my control
now. Payment details will be provided for you to make a part payment of
$4000 first, which will serve as gurantee that you are ready to
co-orperate,I will post a copy of the tape and his pics to you(I tape
recorded
ourconversation),which will be enough evidence for you to take any
legal
action against him before he employs another person for the job. You
will pay the balance of $4000 once you receive the tape.

Warning; do not contact the police, make sure you stay indoors once it
is 7.30pm until this whole thing is sorted out,if you neglect any of
these warnimgs, you will have yourself to blame. You do not have much
time,so get back to me immediately

Good Luck"

Wahm arrested

Here is an article I hope a lot of people see. I really don't think this poor lady knew she was doing anything wrong. It also explains what exactly is going on with those payment processing scams.

This lady answered an ad for an overseas job.   She thought she would be helping the "company" collect money locally and then she would wire the money to the company.

The thing to remember when you see these types of jobs because they often have different descriptions is "why they really need someone to do this type of work".   It really never makes sense from a logical standpoint.

Another thing to ask yourself is "Am I feeling desperate?"   If you are feeling desperate you become easy prey for these scam artists.  I have felt that frustrating sense of despair when searching for a way to work from home so I understand it.    Just don't let it overcome your sensibilities when searching.   There are real ways to work from home, these ad's just aren't going to be the way.

Merchandising

Merchandising is definately not a scam and again it is one of those things where you shouldn't have to pay anyone to get started or get a job.

Merchandisers typically go into various stores, sometimes just a set store and check out the inventory and displays.   They set up displays, determine how much more stock is needed and place orders.   When the orders come in they set out the product and make any changes that are required.

This might be done on a weekly, monthly or even daily basis depending on how many stores are involved.

There are merchandisers for almost every kind of product out there.   If it's something you are interested in you can visit http://www.narms.com/jobbank.html to see if there are any companies looking for people in your area.

Survey Savvy

This week I want to spend some time going over Survey sites again.  There is still a lot of confusion about which ones are good and which ones are.. well.. not so good!  So at least once a day I will tell you about a legitimate survey site and how it works.

Today I want to talk about SurveySavvy  They are probably one of the most straightforward and easy survey companies.

Once you sign up you will want to make sure you have filled out all the profile sections.   Before long they will send you your first survey.   Right in the email they will tell you exactly how much you will earn if you take the survey.

You can always log in and view your earnings and request a check when you reach the payout level.   They also let you refer your family and friends which makes the money add up quickly!

ChaCha recieves $6 million in funding

Remember ChaCha?  The human powered search engine?  It is a great concept and you can sign up to be a search engine guide and work from home helping others find the things they are looking for online.  When they first started up I was intrigued by the idea but wasn't sure it would really pan out.  Well.. turns out they just aquired 6 million dollars in funding!  That isn't the interesting part.. it's who is helping them out.. Jeff Bezos, Rod Canion, Jack Gill and others.  Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon.com... this is quite a feat if I do say myself.  To me this says there are some pretty powerful and smart people who see a future in ChaCha...
